Guthrie, built up during the Oklahoma Land Run when Congress opened the Oklahoma Territory to settlers in 1889 is listed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation on its list of Dozen Distinctive Destinations.
Fort Reno and the only rail based trolley system in Oklahoma can be found in El Reno.
