PLAN YOUR TRIP TO GEORGIA

Plan your travel in Georgia, a “peach” of a state. Here are some trip ideas, destinations and fun facts.

Three of our nation’s presidents have chosen to call it home. Presidents Jimmy Carter, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson all had homes in Georgia, some of which can be toured today. A little slice of our nation’s history is yours to be sampled. Other famous Georgians include Martin Luther King, Jr., Ray Charles, James Brown, Gladys Knight, Otis Redding, Trisha Yearwood, Travis Tritt, Jessye Norman and Little Richard.

In Georgia you can tour plantations; backpack through state parks; drive straight and true down the fairway; camp, fish and get close to wildlife; sail along pristine barrier islands; canoe the Okefenokee Swamp; or experience history, culture and art at the museums and theatres of Savannah, Atlanta, Macon or Columbus.

If you’re a Sunday driver you’ll enjoy the many scenic trails, like the Antebellum Trail (featuring mansions and historic downtowns), the Antiques Trail, the Mountain Parkway Trail—great if you like white water and other outdoor activities, the Old Dixie Highway Trail, the Peach Blossom Trail, the Golden Isles Parkway (great for outdoor lovers), the Heartland of the Confederacy Civil War Trail and more.

The warm climate ranges between the upper 80’s in summer to a short winter with highs in the 40’s and 50’s.
