PLAN YOUR TRIP TO MISSOURI

Missouri travel is fun to plan: here are some fun destinations and trip ideas.

Missouri offers so many opportunities for fun and adventure.

In Marshfield (Edwin Powell Hubble’s birthplace) you can see a replica of the Hubble Telescope. The Ozarks’ ancient mountain peaks hide caves of stunning stalagmites and stalactites. Tour George Washington Carver’s birthplace. The Grand Gulf, a giant collapsed cave, is a geologic wonder. Ste. Genevieve, founded over 200 years ago when the area was French Canadian, is their first permanent settlement on the west bank of the Mississippi. Missouri wines are enjoying growth; many wineries along the Missouri River are receiving kudos and awards.

Check out Mark Twain Cave, which was actually used as a refuge for American Indians, the notorious Jesse James, and escaping slaves via the Underground Railroad. View the Pike’s Peak Stables, used by the Pony Express in the 1860’s carrying mail between Missouri and California.

Kids and adults will enjoy the zoos, museums, state parks, and amusement parks. Restaurants, pro sports, shopping, racing, nightlife and day spas will satisfy every appetite.

  • These famous people called Missouri home: author Samuel Clemens (“Mark Twain”), author Laura Ingalls Wilder, Pres. Harry S. Truman, General John J. Pershing, Walt Disney, inventor George Washington Carver, the “Unskinable” Molly Brown, and outlaw Jesse James.
  • Missouri’s rootstocks saved the French wine industry in the mid-1800’s, after the French accidentally imported a dangerous vineyard pest while experimenting with American vines.
